Tess McGill: [pretending to be her boss] I know what I’m doing.
Cynthia: Yeah, screwing up your life.
Tess McGill: No, I’m trying to make it better! I’m not gonna spend the rest of my life working my ass off and getting nowhere just because I followed rules that I had nothing to do with setting up, OK?
Thankful for our Mothers…
“Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and with a breath of kindness blow the rest away.”
~Dinah Craik
“In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.”
~Albert Schweitzer
…These two quotes make me think of my mother. The two of us are quite similar and butt heads more than I’d like to admit. But I know she is my biggest supporter…and no matter how many times I stumble and fall down she is right there to help pick me back up.
I’m so thankful to have her and her unconditional love in my life!
Hope everyone has a very Happy Mother’s Day this weekend!

Embroidered Dance…
“To be fond of dancing was a certain step towards falling in love.”
~Jane Austen
I’m awfully fond of the beauty that is dance…and I’m falling a bit in love with these gorgeous creations from artist Jose Romussi. He has taken old photographs of dancers and embroidered them with brightly colored thread…
Pretty lovely effect, huh…be sure to check out more of Romussi’s work here.
P.S. Have you heard about the documentary First Position? It follows six talented ballet dancers (ages nine to nineteen) on their way to one of the most prestigious youth ballet competitions in the world. Looks fantastic…I’m planning on seeing it this weekend.

Movie Monday…
Frodo: I can’t do this, Sam.
Sam: I know. It’s all wrong. By rights we shouldn’t even be here. But we are. It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.

Element of Fun…(Ne)
Not sure if it’s because its officially May…or if it’s the hot & sticky 80 degree weather…but I feel like it’s already summer around these parts!
Which for some reason stirs up the desire in me to add pops of neon pink to my wardrobe!
Here is a little “(Ne)Pink” inspiration…
What do you think? Too gauche? Or just fun…I’m leaning more towards fun!

Layers of Color…
What does your eye see when you look at these paintings…
Artist Tobias Tovera says this about the vibrant color paintings:
“In my artwork, I am interested in discovering transmuted spaces, places where energy shifts, changes, or renews itself. Through an exploration of the interstices between opposing elements, such as nature and artifice or chaos and order, I wish to explore entropic systems where healing may occur. I want my audience to be left with question and confronted by a raw sense of what it means to be human.”
