Decades of Memories…

Standard

Earlier today I mentioned wanting to recognize my parent’s 60th birthdays.  I’ve got a couple of years to go still…but my mind is already reeling with ideas!

How great would it be to do this project:

{60 Years of Memories}

…60 letters all containing different memories from six decades!

Check out how to do this project on Nothing But Bonfires!

Ever & Ever After…

Standard

Valentine’s Day has come and gone…but love appears to still be on my mind!

I’ve been checking out this sweet project by photographer Lauren Fleishman, which she describes as…

Love Ever After will share the love stories of couples who have been married for at least 50 years. Inspired by a letter my grandfather wrote to my grandmother during World War II (and rediscovered after he passed away in 2007), I began photographing and interviewing couples in the New York area as a way to preserve their stories and to illuminate our universal experience of love.

Here are a few of the lovely photographs…

…Be sure to check out Lauren Fleishman’s site to read about these adorable couples and more stories of enduring love.

P.S. Have you seen these two cute videos of sweet, older couples?

Dream Bank…

Standard

How cool is this Dream Bank from Uncommon Goods…great inspiration to save (and pretty darn cute)!  You could easily make your own by putting a picture of what you’re saving for in a shadow box and cutting a slit for the money to drop in!  Or just use a large jar with your picture showing through!!

I’m thinking I’ll try this out with a beautiful picture of an apartment I’ve been eyeing…hopefully that will motivate me to keep socking away money!!

Are you saving up for anything special…a trip, shoes, a new car, etc.?

Reactions Captured Forever…

Standard

Have you ever had great news that you can’t wait to share with someone…and then their reaction adds to your joy?!  What if you captured those reactions to have as proof for all times?  That is exactly what Tom Robinson did when he photographed his friends & family the moment he told them “I’m going to be a Dad!”  What a clever, sweet way to document the happy news!

The photo above is Robinson’s parents hearing the news…here are a few more great reactions:

{His Sister via Skype}

{His Friends at the Curry}

{Her Brothers –who he said soon went back to their computer game}

{His Friend Harwin –who he said doesn’t care for children}

Aren’t they great…be sure to check out Robinson’s site for more!

What Would You Take…

Standard

On the theme of “Things”…have you ever thought about what you would take if your house was burning?  Would you take anything?  What would you be devastated to lose?  What is irreplaceable?  Would you be more practical (medications & money) or more sentimental (photographs & mementos)?

The Burning House project set forth to see what people would grab, defining their experiment as:

If your house was burning, what would you take with you? It’s a conflict between what’s practical, valuable and sentimental. What you would take reflects your interests, background and priorities. Think of it as an interview condensed into one question.

Here are some examples of what people value enough to take:

…What would you take?  I need to put some thought into what I would grab!
