Underwater Inspiration…

Standard

I am blown away by certain designer’s creativity… for instance Marchesa‘s designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig.  Their Spring 2012 runway show was straight out of an underwater dream:

…Sticking to a palette of mostly white, nude, cinnamon and black, the pair presented layers of tulle, embroidery, draped organza, and sheer mesh…As for their inspiration, the designers were influenced by nautical themes including the 19th-century Ilya Repin painting “Sadko in the Underwater Kingdom,” and Ernst Haeckel drawings of tentacles and jellyfish.

Color-blocking Craze…

Standard

The color-blocking trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.  Sometimes bright & bold, other times muted & pale…the color-blocking craze has been hitting the runways once again for fashion week:

Jenny’s Rainbow…

Standard

Jenny Packham‘s Spring 2012 show is full of gorgeous, airy, light & colorful gowns that look straight out of a rainbow.  As Ms. Packham’s Runway Program states…

“…gleaming skies of opal whites and azure blues, painted with lavish glittering brush strokes and arresting vivid rainbow hues of geranium reds, sunset oranges, lemon drop yellows and citrus limes, ending with dazzling encrusted Swarovski crystals in radiant golds.”

Ruby Red Shoes…

Standard

A friend from college has courageously followed her dreams and recorded her first full length album, delightfully entitled Ruby Red Shoes.  She is performing here in Minneapolis tomorrow night at the Fine Line, and I wish I had a pair of ruby red shoes to wear to the concert!

Being that I’m not very adventurous in the fashion department, maybe I should first try out red flats before I move to pumps…baby steps! Here are some options:

{Express Pointed-Toe Ballet Flats, click to shop}

{Kate Spade New York Eryn, click to shop}

{Fergalicious Women's Lyric Ballet Flat, click to shop}

Choices, choices…hmmm…in the meantime I think I’ll listen to some more of Sarah’s music!!

Zelda’s Style…

Standard

The Great Gatsby is arguably F. Scott Fitzgerald’s finest novel and has taken a spot as one of classic literature’s elite…and I have yet to read it!  The book has been on my reading list for years, but I just haven’t managed to get to it until now…thank you Matchbook Magazine!

Matchbook is my new favorite online magazine… I dreamily lust over its gorgeous pages when I should be working.  Their tagline alone tickles my fancy…”Consider us your field guide to a charmed life.”

Their decadent photo spread on Fitzgerald’s wife Zelda has pushed me over the edge…I’m picking up a copy of his famed novel tonight!

Have fun reimagining Zelda and the Jazz Age…
