“There is something about words.

In expert hands, manipulated deftly, they take you prisoner.

Wind themselves around your limbs like spider silk,

and when you are so enthralled you cannot move,

they pierce your skin, enter your blood, numb your thoughts.

Inside you they work their magic.”

İyi yolculuklar…

Standard

İyi yolculuklar…is essentially ”Bon Voyage” in Turkish!

Turkey is number one on my list of places to visit. But Greece and Germany are a close second…so I guess I could be saying: Καλό ταξίδι or Gute Reise! I’ve got a little travel-themed question and answer post for you today:

{Question 1}

If you could go anywhere in the world (pretend cost wasn’t a factor), where would you go?

My Answer: As I said above…Turkey! I’m enthralled by the rich history, exquisite architechture, gorgeous coastline and of course the people! One day I hope to get there!!

…What’s your answer??

{Question 2}

What was your favorite vacation/trip? Or where is your favorite place you’ve already been to?

My Answer: My favorite vacation was to the Dominican Republic…I honestly felt such utter and complete peace and happiness on that vacation, mainly because I was so young and without the worries of the real world! My favorite trip was studying abroad in South Africa…it was filled with so many complex experiences and emotions that left me forever changed (hopefully for the better)!

…What’s your answer??

{Ridiculously happy in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic}

{Question 3}

What was your worst vacation/trip? Or where is a place you’d like to never visit again?

My Answer: When traveling with my family we tend to be prone to disasters…my mother’s retina detaching/having emergency surgery in France, my own sun poisoning in the Carribean, our stationwagon overheating and the engine dying in the desert of New Mexico…you name it, it has probably happened to us. But despite it all, I don’t think we’ve ever had a trip that I’ve completely regreted. With that being said I’m not a fan of the Lambert-St. Louis airport!

…What’s your answer??

{Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico before our car overheated …check out those acid wash jeans & Zebra shirt!!}

{At the Louvre…before my mother’s emergency eye surgery.}

{Question 4}

Where is your favorite place to go as a day-trip near your home?

My Answer: Duluth, MN…such a charming little city nestled along the chilly banks of Lake Superior. Even the scenic drive north is enjoyable…spring, summer, fall & winter!  Another lovely daytrip from the Twin Cities is to Red Wing, MN.  Along with it’s picturesque location admist the bluffs of the Mississippi River this town is famous for pottery, antiques and Red Wing Shoes.

…What’s your answer??

{Gorgeous fall colors near Duluth!}

“What is that feeling when you’re driving away from people

and they recede on the plain till you see their specks dispersing?

- it’s the too-huge world vaulting us,

and it’s good-bye.

But we lean forward

to the next crazy venture beneath the skies.”

Clark: I’m just trying to treat my family to a little fun.
Ellen Griswold: Oh spare me, Clark, I know your brand of family fun. Tomorrow you’ll probably kill the desk clerk, hold up a McDonalds, and drive us 1000 miles out of the way to see the world’s largest pile of mud!

“The small things of life were often so much bigger than the great things . . . the trivial pleasure like cooking, one’s home, little poems especially sad ones, solitary walks, funny things seen and overheard.”

29 for 29…

Standard

I’ve got a red, white & blue hangover today!  I’m still wanting to watch fireworks, grill out, play lawn games and run around with sparklers…but alas real life and work is back in full force today!

In an effort to delay actually working today I’ve been trying to come up with a bucket-list for the last year of my twenties…29 things to do while I’m 29.

I haven’t gotten too far…can you help?  Any fun ideas of things I should do/try?
